As he spoke he looked up at her and into her eyes. They were a kind of mossy green, brilliant and arresting. Suddenly the rest of the world was gone, and nothing else mattered. Her eyes were drinking him in; some primeval forest, dripping with life. In danger of losing his breath he shifted his focus and the world came rushing back. Don’t be a creep, he told himself.
