slow burn

He sat shaking slightly in the cold office; waves of frigid air were being emitted by the air conditioner mounted on the wall.  He tried to focus.  He stared blankly at the computer monitor in front of him and shivered.  His stomach was unsettled.  The song playing through the speakers wailed and caressed his ears, adding to the slight sensation of paranoia.  The sense that everything was not exactly okay.  He ran his fingers through the back of his hair in a continuous motion, feeling the strands slide past, gathering them together again.  It was soothing.  Meditative.

Repeat, ad infinitum.
